The Guestbook at Tommy's CyberNursery Preemie Web siteThank you for visiting Tommy's CyberNursery Preemie Web site. We would appreciate your contribution to this guestbook we are keeping!Hi Tommy: Sorry, its Sarah again. I forgot to tell you the address of my website. It is http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTriangle/6153/index.html
Sarah F. <m3kids@geocities.com> Hi Tommy: Your Cyber Nursery is Great to read. I am a grade 10 student in Canada and I'm doing a web-based project on preemies and other things like that. Your story is one of the best and most detailed preemie stories I've found. I'm going to put a link to your home page from mine. Please come visit me there! It is not much yet, but by the end of May it should be finished. Do you mind if I use one of your pictures? Please e-mail me if this is okay. Thanks!
Sarah F. <m3kids@geocities.com> Hi Tommy: I really loved reading about how hard you fought, and how far you have come. You are one strong little boy! Best wishes for a bright future.
Nikki <NLAGNEAUX@VNET.IBM.COM> Hi Tommy: I read your story last night with my husband, and we were reminded of our son, Michael, who was born on New Years day 1996. He was born 6 weeks early. He was very lucky, though, He weighed 5 pds 13 oz, more than his full term older sister who weighed 5 pds 6 oz. He stayed in NICU for eleven of the hardest days of our lives. His only problem was he couldn't suck, swallow and breathe. He has come a long way, as you have too!! At 15 months, he now weighs 26 pounds and is a walking, jabbering big boy who his older sisters have a hard time keeping up with. I hope when you get older, you will realize how lucky you are to have a family who did this for you. I can't think of a greater gift. Take care of yourself and your family because they did and will do the same for you... Adam, Maria, Kristin, Rebekah and Michael
Maria Peterson <alpet@airmail.net> Hi Tommy:I am so glad I found this site. I am the mother Of 4 children. My last 2 are preemies, Cristin was 34wks and Catelynn was 30wks. They are now 3yrs, and 7mos. old. We have had no major problems. Best Wishes to your entire family on the birth of the new baby. God Bless Cathie
Cathie Stevens <cstevens@fuse.net> Hi Tommy: We would like to make a little correction concerning our granddaughter's weight. She was 685 grams but unfortunately it turned out to be fluid. She is actually 630grams but thats alright because she is still ahead of the game and doing great.
Joan and Joe <Malakh@aol.com> Hi Tommy: We would like to make a little correction concerning our granddaughter's weight. She was 685 grams but unfortunately it turned out to be fluid. She is actually 630grams but thats alright because she is still ahead of the game, and doing great.

Joan and Joe <Malakh@aol.com> Hi Tommy: We are grandparents of a little girl born on Feb.28th, 1997, she weighed at birth:1lb. 1.6ozs.=505 grams. We were happy to read about your success story. Our little granddaughter's name is Brianne Marie who is aka:Breezy. She is doing very well for such a small baby. She has Brady spells from time to time and we have had some scary moments with fluid in the lungs but other than that she is a complete miracle. I haven't found data on preemies that tiny nor stories from grandparents. Its hard on us too and would love to be able to converse with other grandparents of preemies. She now weighs 685 grams which is 1lb. 8ozs. I have seen the stress that my son and his wife have been through since they found out my daughter in law has preeclampsia and then the early birth of their little girl. We will keep you posted as to her progress and will continue to come here to read of other success stories. Thank you so much and good luck with the birth of your sibling.
Joan and Joe <Malakh@aol.com> Hi Tommy: Love your web page dude! My daughter, Kayleigh, was born 5-1/2 yrs. ago weighing 1 lb. 7 ozs. She is legally blind due to ROP. No big deal to her though. She loves reading books, playing the computer, and gymnastics. A real cutie too Tommy!! Big Bear Hugs, Kim and Kayleigh
Kim Joiner <KJoiner281@aol.com> Hi Tommy: my son Samuel wasn't born that premature. he was only 5wks and 3 days premature. but he was every bit as lucky. i was in a high speed car accident which resulted in his birth 5 hrs later. neither one of us was suppose to be alive, i wasn't wearing a seat belt. when i was in the hospitol i couldn't feel any contractions yet i was in full blown labor. samuel is now almost five months and is squirming on my lap. he has no problems other than he had surgery 4 days ago to repair a hernia. i survived withjust a badly sprained ankle the doctors say i never recover from but that's okay. because i have a beautiful baby
kimberly frick <s-frick@ti.com> Hi Tommy:I really like your page. I had Aaron at 24 weeks. He had alevel 4 bleed, was on a vent 2 mnths,19 procedures,5 surgeries, and was in nicu 93 days with 3 later hospitalizations for pnemonia. He has mild c.p. and wears glasses and has BPD. His drs. say by the time he is 3 we wont even be able to tell he was early. He is now 16 mnths. old and is crawling, sitting, saying mama and is normal mentally, which is a miracle considering his bleed. He should have been mild to severely retarded.Aaron was a celebrity in our newspaper, he had 8 articles including his birth, homecomming, birthday and many updates. We got letters from all over the USA.I am glad you are doing so well and am praying for your family.I would like to talk to others with babies with the same conditions as mine . I hope I filled this out right as I just got my computer. My email means nightcatcher: catcher of all dreams, because thats what is possible if you believe in miracles. sincerely Carol
carol <nitecat@ptd.net.> Hi Tommy: I absolutely loved the web site, your mom and dad are great for doing this for you. It will be a great rememberance for you when your old enough to see how very special and lucky you are. I have been a neonatal intensive care nurse for some years now and it is fantastic to hear of such a success story. I hope you have a sister so she can torment you later-haha. I'm going to mention to the girls at work to look at your web site so they can feel as good about their job as much as I do now. Have a great life Thomas. Dawn
Dawn <cvallet@ccinet.ab.ca> Hi Tommy: I really intended to say Hi, on the last message; but I guess I hit the wrong button!!! I really enjoy your home page Tommy, I have a set of twins, boy and girl, named Austin and Ashli. They were born 24 weeks and 5 days early. They weighed 1 lb 8 oz, and 1 lb 4 oz, respectfully. Your mommy is so right....the media always seems to focus on the negative when it comes to "micro preemies." Austin and Ashli will be 3, April 14, 1997!! Other then being small and having speech delays they are doing great!! Just like you! Your are a very handsome young man. I would love to chat with your mommy sometime, I think we have some of the same views, when it comes to the joy of being blessed with such special children!! Lynn Shahan dpshahan@msn.com
Lynn Shahan Hi Tommy:
Lynn Shahan <dpshahan@msn.com> Hi Tommy: I was happy to read about your great story. My little boy, Isaac was born 10 weeks a 26 weeker. He weighed only 1 lb. 3 oz. Now he weighs 3 lb. 5 oz. and is still in the hospital. We think he can come home in about 2 weeks.
Melinda <melsauve@aol.com> Hi Tommy: How lucky I was to stumble upon your website! You could have just substituted the name "Caitlyn" in for Tommy. Our Caitlyn Brooke Buhrley was born 13 weeks early, weighing 2 lbs. 4 oz. Although Tommy was born earlier and smaller, I read with fascination the similarities of these two babies. Mom and Dad: The memories don't easily fade, do they? I, too, I wonder now, as I look back at the whole experience, how my husband and I made it through the whole thing. When our second child was born, the enormity of the experience finally hit home, as it will with you. Caitlyn turned 3-years-old on February 9, 1997,and people are amazed when they see "My Preemie" (You would never detect the struggle she began this life with by just looking at her). I am so glad to read your thoroughly accounted experience. Unfortunately, Caitlyn's mom didn't keep such thorough records, so I am bookmarking this site for later times. Good luck on the Big Brother thing. Caitlyn, like you, was delivered early because of an abruption. Last spring we welcomed a new baby boy, Zachary Ben, who was born only 2 weeks early (taken by c-section for the same reasons your new baby brother/sister will come a couple weeks early as well.) There were no problems throughout the pregnancy, and believe me, we understand the count-down now going on in your lives. Good Luck with Everything! Gretchen Buhrley
Gretchen Buhrley <wjr834gb@weber.k12.Ut.us> Hi Tommy: I really love the web page. It is always good to hear of wonderful NICU experiences. You never really hear about premature births until your baby is born early. My little one was born at 30 weeks gestation due to severe preeclampsia. She weighed 2 lbs 14 oz. The neonatologist said that she was a horse compared to some of the other baby's all ready in the NICU. It's always nice to hear that everything can only get better as they grow older and bigger. Abbi is now 6 months old and she is a healthy 11 lbs 5 oz. We hope that your next one does as well as you first. Our thoughts are with you. Thanks.
Kirsten hi Tommy, I just wanted to tell you, your story is all to familiar. I am a 23 year old mother of twin boys who were born at 28 wks. David weighing 2lbs 6oz and Dalton weighing 2lbs2oz. They also like Tommy, had a long road ahead of them. It was so nice to read your story, because I felt guilty of being jealous of other kids who were normal weight, and had no problems. My babies had to be in the hospital 3 months and of course I was there 90% of the time, 120 miles round trip. It was hard to see other babies in the NICU leave before mine. But after a long wait, I finally got to take them home. They were on the monitors for a little over a year, and I can sympathize with loose leads at 90 decibals. The boys were 3 months behind and it took a long time to do certain things, but they are very smart and are perfect little boys who turned 3 in January. I guess I just wanted to say thank you for your story and it was nice to feel after three years, I wasn't the only one to go through it. Take care, Christie
CHRISTIE <HOEFS@TOMAH.COM> Hi Tommy: I want you to know that your web site was the first one I looked up when I was pregnant last year. I was having trouble with the pregnancy at 22 weeks (my water broke) and you gave me hope. The fact that you were born at 23 weeks is truly a miracle. I managed to hold on for 13 weeks with my water broken. I had my baby, Shane, on December 6, 1996, 5 weeks early. Which was much better than we expected. Way better!! I want you to know you were a big reason we decided to go on with the pregnancy. I am so glad to hear you are going to have a brother or sister! My prayers are with your mommy and daddy that they have a beautiful, perfect baby. --Deborah Nelson ddlv@vegas.infi.net http://www.geocities.com/NapaValley/3418/
Deborah Nelson <ddlv@vegas.infi.net> Hi Tommy: Just wanted to let you and your parents know that I really enjoyed your story and I hope things continue to go well. I am a new mommy of a 31 weeker born at Hutzel due to pre- eclampsia. Andrew was born weighing 2lbs and 8ozs. He is using the hood and doing well.
Ami <vader1@ix.netcom.com> Hi Tommy: It is great to hear such a successful story. My wife and I just had a pair of twins, born 15 weeks early, March 1,1997. They are currently in the NICU at GBMC in Baltimore, MD. Of course it is a scary time for both of us and we pray that the Lord watches over Matt(1lb, 13ozs) and John (1lb, 12 ozs). Your success tells us that there is hope...This is our first baby (ies) and we were never prepared for this. The team in the NICU are so caring and supportive. God Bless.
Tom Hayes <thomashayes@worldnet.att.net> Hi Tommy: What a great web page!! I always enjoy visiting it. My daughter was born at 30 weeks and spent five months in the NICU at Beaumont. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about the outstanding care that she received there. She is now five years old (where has the time gone?) and she is doing well. To Mom and Dad: Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this prenancy. I delivered Kathy due to severe pre-eclampsia and was told the next time around my chances were good to develop it again. Well.. I am happy to say that I delivered a 38 week girl who is now one year old. It was a stressful pregnancy and I went on bed rest at 30 weeks...but we made it. Best of Luck to you and we will be following the countdown. Nancy
Nancy McDonald <p1215819@mail.idt.net> Hi Tommy: I'm so happy your doing well and your mommy's pregnancy is going well. My cousin was a "26-weeker" (1 lb.,13ozs.)in the same NICU as you, as a matter in fact she arrived there three months after you left! She is doing great now, she'll be two years old on Sunday!(3/16/97) Tommy's mom and dad: Wow! Two birthdays in July! Good luck ,I'll be praying for you! Katie (future NICU Nurse!) Katie <dutchess@advnet.net> MI USA - Friday, March 14, 1997 at 15:25:41 (CST) Hi Tommy: I am a student in high school who is going to pursue a career as a neonatal nurse practitioner. After seeing my little cousin in the NICU of Orlando Medical Center, I knew that this is what God wants me to do. Therefore, I was delighted to find your site and read all about you. Congratulations for growing into such a BIG BOY and for the new sibling on the way!! Special children like you are the inspiration for my career choice. Thank you!! God Bless you and your family. Jennifer jennifer USA - Friday, March 14, 1997 at 14:42:07 (CST) Hi Tommy: We are really looking forward to all the new things at your very special site. We are the very proud parents of a 33wkr, Lisabette Marie, born on January 6, weighing 4lbs. 6ozs. at birth and now tipping the scales at 10 lbs. 7 ozs. Best Wishes and Continued Success!!!
Dalia and Edward Lopez <LREBOP> Hi Tommy's Parents: I've really enjoyed exploring your Web page, hearing about Tommy's progress. I think you're providing a terrific service. And congratulations! Nice to hear that Tommy's about to have a sibling. I'm not a NICU parent, but I am a psychologist working with a NICU on deciding what kind of support would be best to provide to parents. We're working on a Web page that will connect to some existing sites (very likely including yours) but we've also been trying to decide whether to focus on an on line or off line chat group, or an actual face to face old fashioned support group on the NICU. Any thought you have would be most appreciated. Thanks, and with best wishes, Eileen Schwartz
Eileen Schwartz <eschwar2@bu.edu> Hi Tommy: I'm real excited about the new additions to your site Tommy! And more changes are to come! Love, Daddy
Daddy Hi Tommy: I think you have a really cool site That's all for all for now I love you
