Cedar Point's Castaway Bay
We stayed at Castaway Bay Thursday and Friday night. If we skip past the part where my wife had an inner ear issue and vertigo, we had a great time. I'd been a bit concerned as I'd read a number of negative reviews on the place before leaving.
The indoor water park was great. It has a wave pool, dumping station and fort, a "water roller coaster" where rafts are propelled up hill then down, a number of water slides, an indoor/outdoor hot tub with a small waterfall, plus other feature areas. My favorite was the dumping station and fort -- although the water roller coaster was a close second.
We paid extra for a room upgrade with a king bed for mom and dad, and dual bunk beds for the kids. Although mom and dad loved the king sized bed (especially considering mom was sick) -- the kids said that next time regular beds would be fine.
We’ve not been to Great Wolf Lodge, the nearest competitor. However, we hear that it’s nice as well. Actually, word is that the facilities beyond the water park are superior – although I’d be surprised to hear the water park part could be any better.
Anyway, another successful trip! Next up is Universal Orlando.
