Alyssa loses another tooth!
It seems that Alyssa lost another tooth . . . literally!

After eating an apple, another tooth that was loose was missing, and the spot where is was was a little bloody. Apparently she swallowed it!

The next part of the crisis was that she was on her way to her cousins for a sleep over -- so she wasn't even going to be at home. Mom came up with the idea of writting the tooth fairy a note.

In the end, the tooth fairy came the next night Alyssa was home.

$3 dollars was added to her collection of money.

I FINALLY LOST MY TOOTH
Hi, this is Alyssa.

I finally lost my tooth, that is all I want to say.

I had my friend Mathew's pencil in my hand. And Brandon took it out of my hand. And then he bumped into my mouth. And then my tooth fell in my mouth. And then I took it out. And I almost swallowed it. Then, I said "Mrs. Olafsson, is it just me or did my tooth fall out." And that's all.

Father Daughter Sweetheart Dance
Last night Alyssa and I went to Whispers of Winter, the annual scout/sweetheart dance for Girl Scouts and Brownies.

It started with a "production line" where we each received a flower, had our picture taken, then grabbed pizza and drinks. It was billed as a "semi-formal event" (pizza?).

After eating, we ventured to the dance floor. Alyssa was a bit intimidated and wouldn't dance much until we found her friend Lindsey. Lindsey and Alyssa's interpretation of dance was something between dancing and tag. Looks like we need to get Alyssa dancing lessons -- or at least some practice dancing before next years event.

WinTV 250 + MediaMVP = Geek Heaven?
Okay, this is today's "I'm a GEEK" entry part II.

I installed Hauppauge's WinTV PVR 250 yesterday. So far, I'm impressed.

Matched up with my MediaMVP (also Hauppauge), I'm in computer PVR geek heaven.

I'd write more, but the Superbowl is on in HDTV with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound in just the next room. So . . . More to Come . . .

LINUX -- This is from a Linux browser, I'm such a GEEK
Ok, it's over. I'm definately beyond hope.

This weekend, I joined the GEEKS permanently!

I am writing this from Konqueror, which is one of the browsers that came with the SuSE Linux distribution I installed on my computer this weekend.

For no reason other than "I can" I decided it would be "fun" to install Linux and enjoy some of that "crash free" computing we read about. Well, I can start by telling you that "crash free" is definately not accurate. However, It does seem to be faster, and the graphics seem to be better . . . but the jury is still out. I'm having fun with the discover process (it's simply too late for me).

I also bought a WinTV 250 in order to experiment with turning my computer into a PVR. I'll post separately as much to my disappointment, WinTV 250 is one of the pieces of hardware that does not appear to be supported under Linux (true? any help?).

More to come . . .
