Real time chatting!  Meet other preemie parents Live!!

Probably the best resource for chatting on the internet is: Preemies ORG - NET Support Site -- from the site: "Preemies.Org was established to help parents of premature infants find other parents using various Internet resources such as the PreemiesChat room. It's very comforting to find so many parents and professionals on the Internet who know how difficult it is to have a baby in the NICU."

Preemie Resources not on the Internet

The Premature Baby Book by Helen Harrison - the classic reference, and still one of the best don't miss resources!  (Also see Helen Harrison's Observations on Prematurity on the Web)

Newborn Intensive Care: What Every Parent Needs to Know by Jeanette Zaichkin, RNC, MN - It is written by NICU nurse experts and takes the parent from high risk birth, through the NICU experience, through homecoming and beyond. The point of the book is to empower parents as active participants in their baby's care. It is available from NICU Ink Book Publishers for $24.95 plus shipping. Call 1-888-642-8465 or e-mail at srait@aol.com [description paraphrased from a message I received from the author]. I found to be excellent.

Your Premature Baby by Frank P. Maginello, MD and Theresa Foy DiGeronimo - Lots of easy to digest medical information.

Growing Sophia: The story of a premature birth, by Rochelle Barsuhn, takes you through this families experiences with their 24-weeker in a way that will seem very familiar to a former NICU parent. Discusses some of the uncertainty and frustrations we all felt as NICU parents. I read it on one sitting (on a plane from Detroit to Philly). Wonderful book.

Living Miracles: Stories of Hope from Parents of Premature Babies, technically this is a commercial link to the Barnes and Nobles Web site -- but considering our Tommy's story is one of 22 stories (making Daddy a contributing author), I don't thing any one will hold it against me! Note that Amazon.com has it too!

BABY E.R. The Heroic Doctors and Nurses Who Perform Medicine's Tiniest Miracles. Information on premature babies and neonatal intensive care at EdwardHumes.com

The Pregnancy Bed Rest Book  A Survival Guide for Expectant Mothers and Their Families
